The Phillies may not have clinched the NL East at home on Sunday, but the celebration is coming soon. Philadelphia kicks off a challenging three-game road series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, with a win potentially securing the division title.
“There’s nothing like celebrating with your teammates after a hard-fought year, going through all the ups and downs, and knowing what the ultimate goal is as a team,” Harper told Phillies Nation via Destiny Lugardo. “Winning the division is obviously just the start of something bigger.”
The Phillies haven’t won a World Series since 2008, and before 2024, their last division title came in 2011. With a playoff spot locked in and a second straight NL East crown within reach, Harper and the Phillies are aiming for even bigger milestones.
“We haven’t finished with one yet,” Harper said of closing a season with a World Series celebration. “I’m excited for the chance to finish the year on one this November and maybe extend the party a few days down Broad Street.”
Philadelphia made a remarkable run to the World Series in 2022 as the final Wild Card team, only to fall to the Houston Astros in six games. Since then, the team has struggled to make a deep postseason run.
