With just one week remaining in the MLB season, the St. Louis Cardinals are on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs. The Cardinals play their final home game of the season on Sunday before embarking on a six-game road trip.
This season, St. Louis has had a number of challenges, including beginning pitching concerns, poor attendance, and controversy with Nolan Arenado. The reason for Arenado’s exclusion from the Cardinals’ lineup was revealed on Sunday.

Manager Oliver Marmol provides Nolan Arenado update
Nolan Arenado was conspicuously left out of the starting lineup in favor of Nolan Gorman in what was likely to be his final home game in St. Louis.

Manager Oli Marmol stated that Arenado’s body needs a day off, and they’re still figuring out if he might play in this game in any way, Cardinals reporter Jeff Jones told X.
Regarding Nolan Arenado and the next offseason, there are a lot of rumors circulating. Although he still has a few years left on his contract, he appears to be in high demand on the trade market.

Arenado hasn’t been a very good player in the 101 games he’s played this season, so St. Louis should be willing to let go of him and try to get off some of the remaining money on his deal.
Arenado is striking. 236 with 49 RBIs and 10 home homers. For the eight-time all-star, all three of those scores are career lows.

When Chaim Bloom becomes the next president of baseball operations, there will be a power shift, making him one of the most interesting topics for Cardinals fans to watch throughout the winter.
