Ten-year-old Emerson Vivion, a brave young boy from Mercer Island, reached an incredible milestone this week as he rang the victory bell outside Seattle Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, officially marking the end of his long and courageous battle with cancer.
Emerson was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2023, beginning a journey filled with hospital visits, treatments, and countless moments of strength and perseverance.

To celebrate this life-changing moment, Emerson was surrounded by his loving family, his dedicated medical team, and several professional athletes who came to cheer him on. Dressed proudly in a black t-shirt that read, “Fought like hell to ring the bell!”, Emerson smiled from ear to ear as he gave the bell a strong ring — symbolizing triumph, hope, and the end of a long fight. Afterward, he shared a high-five with former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu, who joined the celebration to honor Emerson’s strength and determination.

Adding to the special day, Emerson and his family were treated to a heartwarming surprise video message from Seattle Mariners bullpen coach Tony Arnerich, who personally congratulated Emerson on this incredible achievement. The message served as a touching reminder of the community’s support and how Emerson’s courage has inspired so many people both inside and outside the hospital walls.
It was a day filled with smiles, tears, and celebration, as Emerson’s ringing of the bell marked not just the end of treatment — but the beginning of a bright new chapter in his young life.
