BREAKING: Alex Anthopoulos confirms major decision on free agent target

The outfield is one area where I could see the Braves making a significant investment this offseason. Aside from Michael Harris II, there are many uncertainties, and unlike the shortstop position, there are several viable options to fill the gap.

Could the Braves be in the running for Juan Soto? It’s highly unlikely, but it’s fun to imagine. Picture an outfield of Michael Harris, Juan Soto, and Ronald Acuña Jr. patrolling Truist Park for 81+ games a year.

More realistically, Anthony Santander and Teoscar Hernandez are solid fits for the Braves. Santander, a switch hitter, is coming off a career-best 44 home runs, and Hernandez has hit at least 29 home runs in each of the last four seasons. Both will be hot commodities in free agency, but the Braves could have enough financial flexibility to enter those negotiations if they choose.

Max Kepler could be a solid alternative if the Braves seek a one-year, prove-it deal candidate. The longtime Twins outfielder struggled this year with a .682 OPS but hit 24 home runs with an .816 OPS in 2023.

Randal Grichuk is another strong veteran option who likely won’t come with a hefty price tag. He just wrapped up a season hitting .291 with an .875 OPS for the Diamondbacks over 106 games and has consistently performed well against left-handed pitching, with a career OPS of .833 against southpaws.
