BREAKING: Packers finally make Lambeau Field agreement after Green Bay demands
The Green Bay Packers, renowned for their iconic Lambeau Field and the tradition of the Lambeau Leap, have struck a deal with the city of Green Bay to secure an extended lease for their historic stadium. Even as a small-market team, Green Bay has consistently maintained one of the NFL’s top stadiums for its loyal fan base.
On Wednesday, the Packers committed to providing the funds needed for a new or extended lease, with Green Bay’s City Council unanimously supporting Mayor Eric Genrich’s negotiations with the team, per Richard Ryman of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
The current lease for Lambeau Field is set to expire in 2032, with the Packers holding five two-year renewal options, paying the city over $1 million annually. Discussions are ongoing regarding a new proposal, and the Packers have pledged a $1.5 billion investment in the stadium without taxpayer contributions.
The Packers expressed frustration with the prolonged process, noting that they’ve spent four years negotiating and submitted three proposals without a counter offer. “If this extension as proposed is unacceptable, the Packers will not engage in further discussions,” the team stated.
Packers fans can rest assured—their team isn’t leaving Lambeau Field anytime soon.
Green Bay City Council confirms there will be no impact on 2025 NFL Draft
Despite ongoing negotiations, the Green Bay City Council assured that hosting the 2025 NFL Draft will not be impacted. “Negotiations are challenging and often involve conflict, but they also allow us to engage in vital conversations. We want to continue these talks with the Packers. This isn’t intended as a stalemate… Our commitment to the draft remains firm and unaffected,” said Johnson. “The draft comes first.”
NFL owners and the league confirmed Green Bay as the host city for the 2025 NFL Draft back in 2023. The draft will take place on the Lambeau Field campus, encompassing various locations such as Titletown, the Resch Expo Center, and Resch Center. The NFL will decide the exact spot for the draft stage independently of the Packers and the city.
The event is expected to shine a national spotlight on Green Bay and could generate millions in additional revenue. There’s even speculation that the 2025 Draft might mark the first-ever NFL Draft to take place amid snowfall.
