The Buffalo Bills have ruled out three players for their Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Key starters, linebacker Terrel Bernard and wide receiver Curtis Samuel, won’t be available on Sunday. Additionally, rookie defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, a rotational contributor, will also miss the matchup, leaving a gap in the defensive line.

This will be Bernard’s second time on the inactive list this season. He missed two games in September due to a pectoral strain, and now an ankle injury will keep him sidelined. Earlier in the week, head coach Sean McDermott had considered Bernard “day-to-day.” However, after Bernard missed several practices due to a personal matter and didn’t participate on Friday, he was ruled out. It’s expected that Baylon Spector will step in for Bernard, with rookie Joe Andreessen likely active on game day, as seen during Bernard’s previous absence.

Curtis Samuel, in his first season with Buffalo, won’t play Sunday and may also miss additional time due to a shoulder injury he sustained in last week’s game. McDermott noted that Samuel is likely to be out “more than one week” but doesn’t expect him to go on Injured Reserve (IR). To fill his spot, the Bills may elevate one of their practice squad receivers, Tyrell Shavers, K.J. Hamler, or Jalen Virgil.

DeWayne Carter’s absence will be longer, as he requires wrist surgery. McDermott mentioned that the rookie will be out for several weeks, though a decision on placing him on IR is still pending.

Running back Darrynton Evans, officially listed as “doubtful,” has yet to be activated from IR, making him unlikely to play. McDermott and GM Brandon Beane will assess Evans’s future after Sunday.

In positive news for Buffalo, all three tight ends — Dalton Kincaid, Quentin Morris, and Dawson Knox — are set to play despite recent injuries. All three were full participants in Friday’s practice and enter the weekend without any injury designation. This stability provides offensive coordinator Joe Brady with more options for Sunday’s game.

With three players ruled out, the Bills must name two additional inactives by 2:35 p.m. EDT on Sunday, ahead of their 4:05 p.m. game.
