Breaking News: Bills Made 2 Roster Moves ahead of Deadline
The AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills are making some roster adjustments as the trade deadline approaches. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reports that Buffalo has signed veteran wide receiver Deon Cain to the practice squad and released kicker Lucas Havrisik. With Tyler Bass firmly handling the kicking duties, Cain’s signing is the more significant move here.
It remains uncertain if Cain will be promoted to the active 53-man roster. If called up, the Bills would be adding a true journeyman, as Cain, now 28, has played for six teams over his seven-year career, including multiple practice squads. This is Cain’s second stint with the Bills’ practice squad this season.
A former All-ACC talent, Cain won both UFL and USFL championships with the Birmingham Stallions. In the NFL, he has nine catches for 124 yards, with his last reception occurring in 2019 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While it’s unclear if he’ll see game action, Cain could get his chance if the Bills need added depth.

Currently, the 6-2 Bills have Amari Cooper, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Mack Hollins on their active roster. However, in the event of an injury, Cain may have an opportunity to step up in the coming weeks. For now, Buffalo is preparing for any future needs at wide receiver.
