BREAKING: LSU defensive tackle Receives huge burst as star returns for another year with the Tigers after injury
In just his second year at Penn State, coach Mike Rhoades is making a strong impact on the recruiting front. Four-star combo guard Kayden Mingo, from Long Island Lutheran in New York, committed to the Nittany Lions on Friday morning. Mingo, ranked as the nation’s No. 42 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite, also stands as the No. 5 combo guard and the second-highest-rated player in New York.
Despite his lowest rating on On3, where he is ranked No. 73 nationally, Mingo’s commitment marks a historic achievement for Penn State. His 247Sports ranking makes him the highest-rated recruit to commit to the program, surpassing former standout Tony Carr, with current freshman Miles Goodman now at No. 3.
Rhoades has secured three commitments in the 2025 class, ranked 12th in the nation. Mingo joins three-star forward Mason Blackwood and three-star center Justin Houser. In his first recruiting class at Penn State last year, Rhoades signed four freshmen, earning a No. 30 national ranking.
