Shocking 3 massive concerns for Bills as they brace for a Week 9 showdown with the Dolphins
The Buffalo Bills will try to sweep the Miami Dolphins this season to move to 7-2. Buffalo could easily win this game, despite Miami’s great performance. This team appears to be different, both in terms of health and who has been added to the offence. Regardless, there are still matchups and flaws on this Bills team that should concern Bills fans. It’s unclear whether the Bills’ faults will be revealed this week, but one thing is guaranteed. This game could go awry. And if it does, it will be because the Bills created their own issues. Let’s look at some of the concerns that Bills supporters may have this week.
Will Von Miller be able to pick up where he left off?
Von Miller was finally beginning to resemble the man Buffalo signed before his injury. With three sacks in four games, Buffalo’s pass rush was beginning to heat up and become the force everyone expected this season. Von concluded their last game with two tackles and one of the Bills’ two sacks. Getting Miller back to where he started the season is critical for a pass rush that was already effective with Greg Rousseau in charge. The Bills’ defence has 20 sacks this season, and Miller’s return will hopefully add to that total.
How healthy will Terrel Bernard be?
The Bills played last week’s game without their best linebacker, leaving just Dorian Williams and Baylon Spector as starters. Buffalo’s defence performed admirably without Bernard, limiting Seattle to 10 points. This week, Buffalo will have Bernard back in the lineup to help limit Miami’s run game. Last week against the Arizona Cardinals, Miami rushed for 150 yards, topped by De’Von Achane’s 97 yards on 10 carries. Bernard has been all over the pitch this season, recording three tackles for loss and 32 overall tackles. Against a quick Dolphins offence that can explode at any minute, Bernard’s return is critical to victory.
Can they stop Jonnu Smith this time around?
Smith’s season has been up and down so far, with 256 yards and one touchdown, including a 53-yard day on seven grabs against the Bills. Smith has been targeted 21 times in the Dolphins’ last three games, making him a focal part of the offence. Smith has always been a favourite and dependable target for Miami’s quarterbacks. Smith could play a larger role on Sunday than any of their other pass catchers, and Buffalo must make it a priority to restrict him throughout the game.
