LOOK: No. 1 Quarterback in America, LSU confirms commit for five-star quarterback
Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback continues to be a major focus in college football recruiting. Underwood, currently ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the nation, committed to LSU in January—a decision that significantly boosted LSU’s 2025 recruiting class. Since Underwood’s commitment, head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers have added several other five-star recruits, including DJ Pickett, the nation’s top cornerback, and wide receiver Derek Meadows.
As the Early Signing Period approaches this December, Underwood’s recruitment remains in the spotlight. Although he’s verbally committed to LSU, the Michigan Wolverines have emerged as a new contender in recent weeks. Michigan’s offensive coordinator, Sherrone Moore, and his staff are reportedly putting together a compelling NIL package to sway the top prospect in the 2025 class, though LSU is aware of the ongoing discussions between Underwood’s camp and Michigan.
On Friday, LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan visited Underwood to reinforce the Tigers’ commitment to the highly coveted quarterback.
LSU’s Staff Checking In
LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan flew out on Friday to catch up with Bryce Underwood and his family at the five-star quarterback’s playoff game. Sloan, leading Underwood’s recruitment efforts, took the opportunity to spend valuable face-to-face time with the nation’s top quarterback amidst the increasing outside interest.
This visit marks the first of two interactions planned between Underwood and the LSU staff in the coming days. Underwood is scheduled to travel to Baton Rouge next weekend to experience the highly anticipated LSU vs. Alabama game.
