The Buffalo Bills are riding a wave of momentum after securing their third straight win with a 31-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8. Now firmly in first place in the AFC East with a comfortable four-game lead, the Bills are preparing to host the Miami Dolphins at Highmark Stadium in Week 9.

Buffalo previously defeated Miami 31-10 at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 2, and they enter this game as 6.5-point favorites. However, Bills quarterback Josh Allen isn’t taking the Dolphins lightly and aims to sweep the season series.

“A head start definitely helps,” Allen said on Oct. 30, referring to the Bills’ standings. “But we can’t get complacent and think everything is taken care of. There’s a lot of football left, and anything can happen, so we need to keep pushing.”

The Dolphins are currently third in the division with a 2-5 record, but Allen is staying focused, especially with Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back in the lineup after missing games due to a concussion suffered against the Bills.

“Make no mistake, they’re a really good team,” said Allen, 28. “Their record may not show it, but they’re playing good football right now. We have to be ready for anything they throw at us, have a solid week of practice, and make in-game adjustments as needed.”

Unfortunately for Miami, Bills QB Josh Allen Thrives Against the Dolphins

Josh Allen’s impressive play this season has him in the MVP conversation, boasting a league-leading 107.6 passer rating through the first several games, according to Bills insider Chris Brown.

Allen seems to reach another level when playing the Dolphins, particularly at Highmark Stadium. The Bills are undefeated at home this season (3-0), and Allen’s passer rating surges to an outstanding 132.8 there. ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg highlighted that Allen’s 21 passing touchdowns in seven home games against Miami are unmatched, with no other quarterback coming close to that total against a single opponent at home.

Meanwhile, Buffalo’s defense has consistently given Miami’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa trouble. Tagovailoa has thrown 10 interceptions against the Bills—double his total against any other team.

Josh Allen & The Bills Look to Shake Off A November Slump

The Bills have maintained a strong 3-0 record at home so far, but November has historically been a challenging month for them. Last season, Buffalo went 1-3 in November, and as SB Nation’s Corey Giacovelli noted, they haven’t posted a winning November record since 2020.

Following their home game against the Dolphins, the Bills head to Indianapolis to face the Colts in Week 10. They’ll then return to Highmark Stadium in Week 11 for a high-stakes matchup against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Adding to the challenges, News 8’s AJ Feldman pointed out an odd trend: the Bills tend to struggle after Daylight Saving Time ends, which happens this Sunday. Since the clocks changed last year, Buffalo lost to the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2022, they fell to the New York Jets, and in 2021, they suffered a surprising 9-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This season offers a prime opportunity for the Bills to break that trend and carry their momentum through November.
