JUST IN: UAB confirms Star-Studded Class of 2025: Future Champions Ready to Dominate

BIRMINGHAM – As the spring season approaches, UAB’s softball program welcomes four new recruits for the 2025 class, marking Taylor Smartt’s first group of signees as Head Coach. Joining the team in fall 2025, Olivia Tindell, Zaylen Tucker, Madeline Flammia, and Charlee Bennett bring diverse skills and accomplishments to UAB Softball.

Taylor Smartt Named UAB Head Coach • D1Softball

Coach Smartt expressed her excitement about this first recruiting class, stating, “Our 2025 signees are a talented group of proven winners, each bringing unique strengths to enhance our athleticism and competitiveness on the field. Their dedication to UAB is evident, and I am grateful for their commitment to making Blazer softball the best in the American Athletic Conference. I believe they will meet key needs for us on the field, and I’m equally impressed by their passion for UAB, especially during the transition this past August. This recruiting direction is promising, and I look forward to future success.”

**Olivia Tindell | Alabaster, AL | Thompson High School | Outfielder**
Hailing from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, Tindell is an accomplished outfielder. She led her team to a state championship in 2022, earning All-State Second Team honors and two All-State Honorable Mentions. Academically, she was active in the National Honor Society, Beta Club, DECA Club, and MU Alpha Theta.

**Zaylen Tucker | Trussville, AL | Hewitt Trussville High School | Outfielder**

An outfielder from Hewitt Trussville High School, Tucker contributed to three 7A state championships in 2021, 2023, and 2024. In 2024, she earned All-State Second Team, All-South Metro First Team, and was named MVP of the North-South All-Star Game.

**Madeline Flammia | Pisgah, AL | Pisgah High School | Middle Infielder**
A middle infielder from Pisgah High School, Flammia helped her team secure the 2A state championship in 2022. A six-year varsity softball player, she also excelled in basketball and volleyball, earning All-State honors four times and 2A Hitter of the Year in 2024. She served as class president and was a Hoby Leadership recipient.

**Charlee Bennett | Hoover, AL | Spain Park High School | Middle Infielder**

Coming from Spain Park High School, Bennett, a middle infielder, helped her team to a 7A playoff appearance in 2024, earning All-State Honorable Mention. Recognized on the All-County, All-South Metro, and Over the Mountain teams, she was involved in her school’s Latin and National Honor Societies and served as a class officer.
