The Texas Longhorns emerged with a 20-10 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, but it wasn’t the offensive explosion many had anticipated. Quarterback Quinn Ewers had an inconsistent performance, completing 20 of 32 passes for 176 yards (5.5 YPA) and two touchdowns. Longhorns fans voiced their frustration on X, criticizing Ewers for his lack of pocket awareness and struggles under pressure—issues that have been persistent throughout the season. Analyst Travis May pointed out one key moment when Ewers failed to recognize an Arkansas blitz on a third-and-6 play in the first quarter, leading to an unnecessary sack.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian praised his quarterback after the game, saying he thought Ewers “played pretty efficiently.” Insider CJ Vogel stated that Sarkisian was “pleased with the late TD drive and the conversion to ice the game.”

Defensive back Jahdae Barron also showed support for Ewers, praising his clutch fourth-down conversion and saying, “He has a lot of haters, he has a lot of love. But I love that dude all the way to the fullest. That’s a warrior move.” While Ewers still has the confidence of his head coach and the trust of his teammates, questions remain about whether he provides the Longhorns with the best chance to achieve their goals of winning the SEC and competing for a national championship. With redshirt freshman Arch Manning waiting for his opportunity, Ewers needs to improve his performance without delay.
