Paul Finebaum didn’t hold back on his thoughts about LSU’s troubles following their disappointing 27-16 loss to Florida in The Swamp on Saturday.

After showing promise as a potential College Football Playoff contender in late October, LSU has now dropped to 6-4 after consecutive losses to Texas A&M, Alabama, and Florida. With the team struggling across the board, Finebaum focused his criticism on head coach Brian Kelly.

“It’s almost indescribable what a hot mess LSU is at the moment,” Finebaum said on *The Matt Barrie Show* during his weekly Sunday appearance. “You see Brian Kelly yelling at players, and players yelling back. You see Notre Dame fans chiming in…he’s suddenly in a very bad spot. This season has blown up on him. He had the No. 1 quarterback in the country committed, and now it’s becoming a bidding war. If he doesn’t secure Bryce Underwood, I don’t know what next year looks like for him.”

LSU fans are also reeling, with hopes of a playoff run now dashed and the future looking uncertain.

“LSU fans, they have no basement,” Finebaum added. “They can go from the high of (possibly) beating Alabama and reaching the SEC Championship Game to, suddenly, the season being over.”

Finebaum went on to say that while he considers Kelly an elite coach, the season’s collapse has him facing serious challenges. “Kelly, despite being a great coach, has watched this season unravel. There have been injuries, and Garrett Nussmeier has struggled. Depending on how things play out, Kelly could be facing one of the toughest offseasons of any SEC coach.”
