The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first defeat of the season in Week 11, falling to the Buffalo Bills 30-21. Despite the loss, quarterback Patrick Mahomes sees it as a potential turning point for the team heading into the rest of the regular season.

Speaking after the game, Mahomes referred to the setback as “fuel” for the Chiefs’ improvement.

“It’s a good football team, so there’s no reason to hang our heads,” Mahomes said, via ESPN’s Adam Teicher. “We know we can play better. We’ll get back to work and use this as motivation to become a stronger football team moving forward.”

Mahomes also emphasized the importance of urgency, particularly at the start of games. “I’m hoping this loss benefits us. I wouldn’t say we relaxed, but we’ve been scraping by with late wins. This should spark us to start games with more intensity, especially on offense. That starts with me and avoiding turnovers like the one on the first drive. You can’t make those mistakes in big games like this.”

The Bills’ victory felt more like a statement of their strength than a collapse by the Chiefs. Josh Allen and the Bills, often stymied by Kansas City in past matchups, dominated the second half, with Allen showcasing his leadership. Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ offense struggled, managing just 259 total yards—181 passing and 78 rushing—while Mahomes was forced into two interceptions by the aggressive Bills defense.
