JUST NOW: NC State Scores Big, Olympic Trials Qualifier Backstroker Makes 2026 Commitment

Olympic Trials qualifier, from Rolling Meadows, Illinois, has verbally committed to NC State University as part of its expanding Class of 2026.

Conic will team up with Maya Schweikert, Emerson Callis, and Taylor Schwenk in Raleigh, joining the

Wolfpack’s Class of 2030.

Sharing her excitement, Conic stated:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to North Carolina State University, where I will continue my academic and athletic career! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for their unwavering support. I would also like to thank Coach Braden and the rest of the NC State staff for this opportunity. GO PACK!!”

A talented backstroker, Conic trains with the Palatine Park District Swim Team. She competed in both backstroke events at this summer’s Olympic Trials and clinched three titles at the Illinois Senior Championships. At the 2023 Illinois State Championships, she placed second in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 IM.

Her personal bests include:
– 100 back: 53.11
– 200 back: 1:55.96
– 100 free: 51.54
– 100 fly: 55.39
– 200 IM: 2:04.11

During her freshman year, Conic won the 100 back at the state meet and placed 17th in the 200 back at Juniors West last December.

The NC State women’s team recently finished fourth at the 2024 ACC Championships and ninth at the NCAA Championships, and Conic’s arrival adds significant depth to their lineup.
