Kentucky inside linebacker Jayvant Brown and edge rusher Tommy Ziesmer became the latest Wildcat to announce their plans to enter the transfer portal Wednesday. Brown was part of UK’s 2023 signing class signing with the Cats as a 247sports’ composite ranking four-star recruit ranked the 417th best player in the nation. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida product picked the Cats over Michigan, Alabama, Penn State and several other suitors. As a true freshman in 2023, Brown played in 11 games and logged seven total tackles on the year. He logged 29 snaps at middle linebacker and, in those, recorded five total tackles and earned a 48.7 Pro Football Focus Grade. This fall, Brown played in four games to earn a redshirt year. He logged 28 middle linebacker snaps on the season and logged one total tackle while posting a 54.6 Pro Football Focus Grade. Brown will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Ziesmer also was a a member of UK’s 2023 signing class. The Boyle County product signed with the Cats as a three-star prospect and opted to stay home over offers from Louisville, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, among others. As a true freshman in 2023, Ziesmer played in two games to pickup a redshirt year and recorded his first career sack late in a lopsided win over Akron. This fall, he played in four games, logging 15 sacks at defensive end, in which he recorded two total tackles and posted a 71.8 Pro Football Focus Grade. He will also have three years of eligibility remaining at his next school. With Brown and Ziesmer departing, seven of UK’s 19 Class of 2023 have since moved on from the program with tight ends Khamari Anderson and Tanner Lemaster, as well as defensive back Avery Stuart all announcing plans to depart this offseason, wide receiver Shamar Porter, defensive back Jaremiah Anglin Jr., wide receiver Ardell Banks leaving after the 2023 season and tight end Jakob Dixon leaving before the start of the 2023 campaign. In total, UK is now up to eight transfer portal departures this offseason in Brown, Ziesmer, Anderson, Lemaster, Stuart, starting defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver, long snapper Walker Himebauch and offensive tackle Courtland Ford.
