BREAKING: Packers Land Promising Pass Rusher in Blockbuster Trade with Seahawks
The Green Bay Packers, sitting at 9-4, are set to face the 8-5 Seattle Seahawks in a critical Week 15 matchup. While the Packers remain third in the NFC North with slim hopes of winning the division, the Seahawks lead the NFC West by just one game over the 7-6 Los Angeles Rams. This game carries significant playoff implications, particularly for Seattle’s seeding.
For the Packers to secure a win and make a deep playoff run, they must address their underperforming pass rush. Green Bay’s defense currently ranks 14th in the NFL with 33 sacks, falling short of the high expectations set by defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who promised a dominant front seven.
In response to these struggles, the Packers have sought reinforcements. On Tuesday, they announced the signing of former Cleveland Browns pass rusher Jeremiah Martin.
Martin entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2023, signing with the Browns but being released after training camp. He remained unsigned until January 2024, when he joined the New York Giants on a reserve/future contract, though he was later waived. Martin returned to the Browns during the 2024 training camp but failed to make the 53-man roster, leading to his release in August.
Despite a modest college career at Texas A&M and Washington, Martin showcased potential in his final season at Washington in 2022, recording 8.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss. The Packers are hoping he can bring much-needed depth and impact to their defensive line.
