BREAKING: Texas Longhorns Confirms 5 Star Commitment for WR Over Georgia Tech
With Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden likely heading to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Texas Longhorns are turning to the NCAA transfer portal to secure experienced wide receivers. A key target in the early winter window is Eric Singleton Jr., a standout from Georgia Tech, who is scheduled to visit the Forty Acres on Monday.
Standing at 5’11” and weighing 190 pounds, Singleton has two seasons of eligibility remaining and is one of the most sought-after players in the portal. Ranked as the top available player by 247Sports, Singleton has drawn interest from multiple programs. He is set to visit Miami next week, with home-state Georgia also in contention. Currently, he is on an official visit at Ole Miss.
A former three-star recruit from Douglasville (Ga.) Alexander, Singleton was part of Georgia Tech’s 2023 class and excelled in both football and track, boasting a 10.69 time in the 100-meter dash. Despite being ranked No. 1,072 overall and No. 149 among wide receivers by the 247Sports Composite rankings, Singleton had offers from Auburn, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Utah before committing to the Yellow Jackets.
Singleton quickly surpassed expectations, earning Freshman All-America honors and finishing second in ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2023. He led Georgia Tech with 714 receiving yards, 48 receptions, and six touchdowns, placing him among the ACC’s top performers. Nationally, his 59.5 receiving yards per game ranked fourth among freshmen wide receivers.
In 2024, Singleton’s touchdown count dipped to three, but he remained productive with 56 receptions for 754 yards. Highlights of his sophomore season include 100-yard games against VMI and North Carolina State, along with an impressive eight-catch, 88-yard, one-touchdown effort in an epic eight-overtime loss to Georgia.
As the Longhorns seek proven talent to bolster their offense, Singleton’s track record of immediate impact and consistency makes him a top priority in the portal.
