BREAKING: Auburn Tigers Land Another 5 Star QB in Transfer Portal
The Auburn Tigers have bolstered their quarterback roster by signing another transfer from the portal. A 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior from Buford, Georgia, and former Stanford quarterback, has committed to Auburn, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Daniels brings experience from his three seasons at Stanford, where he appeared in 33 games, starting 20 of them. Over his collegiate career, he completed 366 of 602 passes (60.8%) for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. On the ground, Daniels added 1,117 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 282 carries.
As a high school recruit, Daniels was a three-star prospect, ranked No. 994 nationally and No. 64 among quarterbacks by 247Sports. As a transfer, he’s now rated as a three-star player, No. 176 overall, and No. 25 among quarterbacks in the portal by 247Sports. His addition has boosted Auburn to No. 4 in the 247Sports portal rankings, trailing only Ole Miss, LSU, and Texas Tech. Daniels has one year of eligibility remaining.
Auburn’s quarterback room will see a complete overhaul next season, as all four scholarship quarterbacks from the previous roster have departed. Payton Thorne graduated, while Hank Brown, Holden Geriner, and Walker White entered the portal. The Tigers have already added five-star freshman Deuce Knight and former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold via the portal, giving them three scholarship quarterbacks.
Head coach Hugh Freeze has expressed a desire to carry four scholarship quarterbacks, meaning Auburn is likely to pursue one more addition. A potential target for the final spot is former Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy, who has already visited the program.
This marks Auburn’s seventh portal addition as they continue reshaping their roster.
