Breaking News: Roughriders Confirmed The Signing Of American Top Player
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have inked a deal with American linebacker Diego Fagot, whose name is pronounced as ‘Fuh-go’.
Standing at six feet three inches tall and weighing 240 pounds, Fagot wasn’t chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft. He had brief spells with the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Roughnecks (XFL), and New England Patriots but didn’t get any playing time during the regular season in either league.
During his time at the United States Naval Academy, the 26-year-old earned accolades, being named first-team All-AAC in 2019 and second-team All-AAC in 2020. Over four years in college, he amassed impressive stats including 282 defensive tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two interceptions, five pass breakups, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Fagot reportedly demonstrated strong athleticism with a 4.68-second forty-yard dash, a 36-inch vertical jump, 107-inch broad jump, 7.27-second three-cone drill, and 4.47-second short shuttle ahead of the draft.
The Riders are set to kick off their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8, as they take on the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
