The top receiver in the 2024 college football transfer portal is no longer available. After a thorough decision-making process, former Georgia Tech standout Eric Singleton Jr. announced his commitment to the Auburn football team for the 2025 season, according to On3 Sports. Singleton will join Auburn with two years of eligibility remaining and the option to use a redshirt year.

Singleton entered the portal after an impressive 2024 season, recording 56 receptions, 754 receiving yards, and three touchdowns, leading the Yellow Jackets in all categories. It was his second consecutive season surpassing 700 receiving yards.

As a sophomore, he built on a remarkable freshman campaign in 2023, during which he tallied 714 yards and six touchdowns, earning consensus first-team freshman All-American honors. Originally a three-star recruit from Douglasville, Georgia, Singleton chose to stay in-state and join Georgia Tech over an Auburn offer.

Once he entered the portal, Singleton was immediately regarded as the top receiver available, surpassing other notable players like Kevin Conception, Zachariah Branch, Nic Anderson, and Tanner Koziol. On3 Sports ranked him as the second-best overall player in the portal, behind quarterback John Mateer.

Singleton becomes the second ACC receiver to join Auburn in 2025, following the commitment of former Wake Forest wideout Horatio Fields on December 19, further strengthening the Tigers’ offense.

Eric Singleton to lead an improved Auburn football team in 2025

The 2025 season will mark the third year under head coach Hugh Freeze’s leadership at Auburn. Although Freeze has yet to deliver a winning season with the Tigers, 2025 presents his strongest opportunity to turn the program around.

Auburn will face the departures of key players such as Payton Thorne, Jarquez Hunter, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith but has compensated with an impressive group of incoming transfers. Alongside Eric Singleton Jr. and Horatio Fields, Freeze has secured commitments from quarterback Jackson Arnold, quarterback Ashton Daniels, offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin, and several others.

Leading the class is Arnold, a former five-star recruit. Though his time at Oklahoma fell short of expectations, he brings the potential to be Auburn’s most effective quarterback since Bo Nix departed in 2021. Despite throwing for just 1,421 yards in 2024, Arnold was the top-rated dual-threat quarterback in the 2023 class, ranking ahead of notable names like Arch Manning, Nico Iamaleava, and Avery Johnson.
