Johnson, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, saw action in three regular-season games with them, primarily on special teams, before being released during the 2022 training camp.

Following his release from the Broncos, Johnson spent time as a free agent until he joined the Arlington Renegades of the XFL in the subsequent year. He later moved on to sign with the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL.

Hailing from Sarasota, Florida, Johnson showcased his defensive prowess during his collegiate career at Indiana University, tallying 69 defensive tackles, eight tackles for loss, seven interceptions, four sacks, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles over 31 games.

His standout performance in 2020 earned him recognition as a first-team All-Big Ten selection.

During the NFL Combine in 2021, Johnson demonstrated his athleticism with a 4.58-second forty-yard dash, a 35-inch vertical jump, a 122-inch broad jump, a 7.22-second three-cone drill, a 4.41-second short shuttle, and 17 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

The Riders are set to kick off their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8, with an away game against the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
