Taylor, a former sixth-round pick, played the first four seasons of his professional career for the Baltimore Ravens. He was the primary backup to quarterback Joe Flacco and appeared in three games, completing only one throw as a rookie.

Taylor played seven games during his second season. Taylor got the greatest playing time of his career when he replaced Joe Flacco in their Week 17 game. He threw 149 yards with one interception. He did run for his first career score in a losing effort. Taylor earned a Super Bowl ring later that season when the Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

Taylor needed to improve throughout the preseason in his third year to keep his backup spot, and he did exactly that. In the preseason, he passed for 263 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Throughout the season, he attempted only five passes.

The Buffalo Bills signed Taylor to a three-year, $3.35 million contract in 2015. Taylor earned the starting job following a good preseason, defeating EJ Manuel and Matt Cassell. Taylor started 14 games in his rookie season, completing 242 passes for 3,035 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.

Taylor’s stats decreased slightly in his second season with the Bills, with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions. He rushed for 580 yards and six touchdowns. The Bills concluded the season 7-9, missing the playoffs.

Taylor led the Bills to the playoffs in his final season, passing for 2,799 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions. In the Wild Card round, Taylor passed for 149 yards and one interception before departing the game with a concussion.

Taylor was traded to the Cleveland Browns during the 2018 offseason for a third-round pick. He was designated starter before being benched for Baker Mayfield, the top overall pick, four weeks into the season. He ended the season with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Taylor formerly played for the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans before joining the New York Giants. He played sparingly for those two teams, starting only seven games.

He received the greatest playing time in the 2023 season, but due to an injury, he was briefly replaced by Tommy DeVito. He completed the season with 1341 throwing yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
