Can Hartline Do It Again?

Ohio State’s wide receiver coach, Brian Hartline, has a reputation for successfully recruiting the players he desires, and Dakorien Moore is undoubtedly on his radar. Currently ranked as the No. 3 player in the 2025 recruiting class and the nation’s top wide receiver, Moore poses a significant target for Ohio State. Despite his commitment to Brian Kelly’s LSU team, Moore is scheduled to visit Columbus on March 18.

According to insights from Dotting the Eyes’ Jeremy Birmingham, Moore’s visit to Ohio State follows trips to Baton Rouge and precedes a visit to Austin, Texas, to meet with the Longhorns’ coaching staff. Moore has indicated to 247Sports that these schools, along with Oregon, are the only ones he will consider for his recruitment going forward.

Hailing from Duncanville, Texas, Moore stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds, boasting offers from over 30 programs nationwide. His exceptional speed is a standout attribute, evident from his role as the anchor in a state-title-winning 4×200 relay team, in addition to his participation in the 100 and 200-meter dashes.

While it may be challenging for any program to sway Moore from his commitment to LSU, the prospect of Hartline’s influence in bringing a talented wide receiver to Ohio State always offers optimism.

Chip Kelly Set to Meet Top QB Prospects

In addition to Dakorien Moore’s upcoming visit, another top talent is set to arrive in Columbus over the next few weeks. According to Bucknuts’ Bill Kurelic, 2026 quarterback Will Griffin will be visiting Ohio State on Tuesday, March 19. Griffin, ranked as the No. 61 player in his recruiting class, is the fourth-ranked quarterback and the eighth-ranked player in Florida. He expressed particular excitement about meeting with new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly during his visit.

Griffin received an offer from Ohio State last June, and he acknowledges that much has changed for the Buckeyes since his last trip to Columbus. “I’m excited about Ohio State hiring Chip Kelly and look forward to meeting him,” Griffin told Kurelic. “He’s an offensive genius and it’s scary good to think about him devoting all his efforts to just OC.”

Tory Blaylock, Atascocita, Running Back

Furthermore, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class, Jared Curtis, will visit Ohio State on April 1, as reported by Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound sophomore from Nashville Christian School holds three dozen offers and is favored by one crystal ball prediction to join the Georgia Bulldogs. However, before his visit to Ohio State, Curtis plans to visit Auburn and Georgia, followed by trips to Oklahoma and Texas later in April. Like Griffin, Curtis is eager to get acquainted with Ohio State’s new offensive coordinator, as stated by Wiltfong.

Quick Hits

Ohio State remains a top contender for high-caliber recruits in upcoming recruiting classes. Just recently, four-star running back Tory Blaylock announced Ohio State as one of his six finalists, alongside Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and Tennessee. Blaylock, ranked as the No. 219 player and the No. 17 running back in the 2025 recruiting class according to 247Sports Composite Ratings, has recognized Ohio State as a serious option among prestigious programs vying for his talent.

Transitioning to the 2026 recruiting class, Micah DeBose, the No. 68 player in the nation, has narrowed down his list of schools from 30 offers to 10, with Ohio State making the cut. Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, DeBose has garnered significant interest from various programs, with multiple crystal ball predictions favoring LSU. This suggests that Ohio State will face stiff competition, particularly from southern schools, in securing the commitment of this highly sought-after interior offensive lineman talent.

In addition to Will Griffen’s visit, the No. 11 player in the 2026 recruiting cycle, Tyler Atkinson, is scheduled to be in Columbus on Tuesday, March 19, as reported by Eleven Warriors’ Garrick Hodges. Atkinson, who received an offer from Ohio State following his eighth-grade year, has ascended to become the No. 2 linebacker prospect in the country and the top-ranked player from Georgia, a state renowned for its football talent. This visit marks Atkinson’s second trip to Ohio State’s campus since receiving the Buckeyes’ offer, underscoring the program’s continued interest in securing his commitment.
