BREAKING: South Carolina lands 6-foot-5, 280-pound D-tackle from transfer portal
South Carolina bolstered its defensive line for next season by signing Bowling Green transfer on Saturday morning.
The 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive lineman hails from River Rouge, Michigan, bringing a Midwest presence to the SEC in 2025. During the 2024 season, Miles recorded 11 tackles (2 solo) for the Falcons, bringing his collegiate total to 26 tackles (10 solo) without registering a sack. The Gamecocks are counting on his development to make a significant impact in Columbia next year.
After missing out on two top defensive tackles in the transfer portal, landing Miles was a crucial move for head coach Shane Beamer. He adds much-needed depth to the defensive line, a priority for South Carolina this offseason. Though still considered a work in progress, Miles will have two years of eligibility remaining and offers potential for growth in the middle of the defense.
Miles played in 10 games for Bowling Green in 2024, and South Carolina hopes he can become a reliable contributor in 2025. Following a strong 9-4 season, which featured a win over Clemson and a close contest with Alabama, the Gamecocks aim to sustain their momentum with Miles as part of their defensive rotation.
