The Boston Red Sox have been busy this offseason, but despite their aggressive moves, they’re still targeting one key addition to bolster their roster—a right-handed bat. With their pursuit of players like Juan Soto, Teoscar Hernández, and Alex Bregman not yet materializing, the Red Sox have zeroed in on improving their offense as spring training approaches. The team has explored big trades, including talks with the St. Louis Cardinals about All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado, though those discussions have yet to progress.

In addition, the Red Sox have also considered moving Bregman to second base, given their commitment to Rafael Devers at third. The Red Sox are confident Bregman can provide Gold Glove-caliber defense in this new role.

If Boston’s efforts to add a right-handed bat fall short, their focus could shift to reinforcing their bullpen, an area that has seen some attention with the acquisition of Aroldis Chapman. Regardless, it’s clear the Red Sox are determined to make a significant impact this offseason, and the next few weeks will be critical in finalizing their roster for the 2025 season.
