BREAKING: Eagles WR A.J. Brown Faces Punishment Before Super Bowl LIX
A.J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles are heading to their second Super Bowl in three seasons after ending Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders’ surprising playoff run in the NFC Championship Game. They will now get a rematch of Super Bowl LVII against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, hoping to avenge their 38-35 loss in the 2022 season finale.
Before the big game, the NFL has announced fines for a few Eagles players, including Brown. Late in the second quarter, just before Jalen Hurts extended Philadelphia’s lead to 20-12 with a touchdown run, Brown was involved in an altercation with Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore, grabbing his facemask and ripping off his helmet. Although only Lattimore was penalized during the game, Brown has been fined $11,255 for unnecessary roughness. Lattimore did not receive a fine.
Brown wasn’t the only player disciplined from the NFC Championship. Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was fined $17,445 for unnecessary roughness in the fourth quarter, while Washington cornerback Benjamin St-Juste was hit with a $16,883 fine for a hip-drop tackle.
Despite Philadelphia’s run-heavy approach with Saquon Barkley leading the ground game, Brown has remained a key weapon in the passing attack. He delivered his best performance of the postseason against Washington, hauling in six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles will now look to capture their second Lombardi Trophy when they face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 at the Superdome in New Orleans.
