Oregon State has lost its fourth assistant football coach this offseason, as receivers coach Kefense Hynson is joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their passing game coordinator. Hynson, who had been coaching Oregon State’s receivers since 2018, takes over the role following Tampa Bay’s promotion of Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator.

Other departures from OSU’s 2024 coaching staff include defensive coordinator Keith Heyward, running backs coach Thomas Ford Jr., and tight ends coach Jon Boyer. Heyward stepped away for personal reasons, while Ford and Boyer accepted positions at other college programs. All vacant coaching roles have been filled except for receivers coach.

During his seven years with the Beavers, Hynson helped develop several notable receivers, including Isaiah Hodgins (San Francisco 49ers), Trevon Bradford (NFL camp), Anthony Gould (Indianapolis Colts), Silas Bolden, and Trent Walker.

Hynson also has previous NFL experience, having participated in minority coaching fellowships with the Detroit Lions (2014), Houston Texans (2013), Kansas City Chiefs (2010), Las Vegas Raiders (2009), and Seattle Seahawks (2008). Additionally, he served as Oregon State’s interim head coach for the 2023 Sun Bowl.
