New Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek has taken a patient approach to reshaping the roster but is now beginning to make moves. On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of wide receiver Kyle Philips. Philips spent the entire 2024 season on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, earning a Super Bowl ring despite not playing in the game or appearing in any regular season contests.

Now, he reunites with Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, who coached him for four years at UCLA. Their prior connection should give Philips a solid understanding of Kelly’s system. Originally a fifth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans, Philips recorded just 23 receptions for 259 yards over two seasons before being released.

Born in Las Vegas, Philips returns to his hometown but faces tough competition to secure a spot on the active roster. However, his familiarity with Kelly’s offense could give him an edge over other receivers.
