Aaron Rodgers’ NFL future could soon take shape as the Rams consider their plans for quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford, 37, is set to earn $35 million this season, though none of it is guaranteed. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, both sides are working on a new deal, and while the Rams and Stafford reportedly want to continue their partnership, Schefter noted that Rodgers would be “thrilled” to join the NFC West team if the opportunity arises.

Schefter also mentioned that the Rams’ situation with Stafford “could change very quickly,” potentially making Rodgers a viable option if quarterback moves start unfolding.

Jets Moving On From Aaron Rodgers Wasn't That Simple

Rodgers, who spent 18 games with the Jets, was informed that the team will move on under new head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey after a disappointing 5-12 season. Despite the struggles, Rodgers posted solid numbers (3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns) and reportedly intends to play into his age-41 season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport recently stated that Rodgers isn’t finished playing but questioned whether he’d want to serve as a bridge quarterback for a non-contender.

Meanwhile, Stafford played well in the playoffs before the Rams were eliminated by the eventual champion Eagles. The Giants, also searching for a quarterback after releasing Daniel Jones midseason, have been linked to Stafford. His brother-in-law, Chad Hall, was recently hired as Big Blue’s assistant quarterbacks coach, though Schefter later dismissed the idea of the Giants trading their No. 3 overall pick for Stafford.

Rodgers won’t be officially released until June 1, but he is permitted to speak with teams following the Jets’ announcement of their split.
