BREAKING: Paul Finebaum Blast LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly For having Low Grade Last Year’
As the 2025 college football season approaches, LSU head coach Brian Kelly has found himself the subject of some scrutiny following a 9-4 record in 2024, his worst season with the Tigers. Despite the ups and downs throughout the year, including a strong start followed by a three-game losing streak, LSU managed to finish the season with a three-game win streak. This mixed season led to a less-than-stellar evaluation from Paul Finebaum, who admitted he wouldn’t have graded Kelly highly based on the previous year.
However, Finebaum expressed optimism about Kelly’s future, particularly after a strong offseason. He gave Kelly some leeway, noting that the Tigers’ potential for next season is high, especially with the return of star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. After throwing for over 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024, Nussmeier’s return gives LSU a solid foundation on offense.
Furthermore, LSU’s impressive offseason recruiting, including the top transfer portal class and a top-10 recruiting class, has added to the excitement surrounding the program. Finebaum believes that a season-opening win over Clemson on August 30 could go a long way in solidifying Kelly’s tenure and potentially landing LSU in the College Football Playoff for the first time under Kelly’s leadership.
With the Tigers poised for a strong 2025, all eyes will be on their early-season performance, especially as they take on a top opponent in Clemson. If Kelly can guide LSU to success, especially with Nussmeier leading the offense, he may just silence any lingering doubts about his ability to deliver at LSU.
