BREAKING: Vikings To land Lucrative Deal For Ex-Seahawks QB
After two seasons with the Broncos, he was released and later signed a budget-friendly deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Though he started strong, both he and the team struggled down the stretch.
USA TODAY’s Andrew Vasquez speculates that Wilson “may have priced himself out of Pittsburgh” and highlights five potential landing spots for the 10-time Pro Bowler. The Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts are logical fits, as all four teams are coming off losing seasons. The Raiders, in particular, could be appealing, with Pete Carroll—Wilson’s former coach in Seattle—now leading the team and the franchise holding significant salary-cap space.

The wildcard on Vasquez’s list is the Minnesota Vikings. Coming off a 14-3 season and led by NFL Coach of the Year Kevin O’Connell, the Vikings could see Wilson as a short-term stabilizer. With Sam Darnold likely departing and J.J. McCarthy still unproven after missing his rookie season due to a torn meniscus, Wilson could provide veteran leadership while allowing McCarthy time to develop.

A short-term deal with Wilson would ensure Minnesota isn’t forced to rush McCarthy into a starting role before he’s ready. Given O’Connell’s reputation for working well with quarterbacks, the move could benefit both Wilson and the Vikings’ long-term plans. Currently, McCarthy is the only quarterback under contract for 2025.
