Bills tight end Armani Rogers is set to undergo surgery after reportedly tearing his Achilles tendon during offseason training.

The former quarterback, who played at UNLV and Ohio, signed with Buffalo in January. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old has now suffered the same injury that sidelined him for the entire 2023 season.

KPRC 2 Houston first reported the news, which comes as the Bills look to rebound from last season’s heartbreaking AFC Championship loss under head coach Sean McDermott.

Rogers, who went undrafted in 2022, initially signed with the Washington Commanders before brief stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons. A Buffalo native, he joined his hometown team earlier this year but now faces another lengthy recovery. The Bills’ tight end group also includes Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, and Quintin Morris.

In January, Kincaid dropped a key late pass in the Bills’ narrow loss to the Chiefs, which ended their Super Bowl hopes and led to significant backlash. However, Kansas City went on to lose to the Eagles in New Orleans.

Rogers, who was previously claimed off waivers by Philadelphia, recorded five receptions for 64 yards during his rookie season with Washington before missing all of 2023 due to injury.
