BREAKING: Former Bills fan-favorite reportedly accepts perfect coaching job
The former Buffalo Bills defensive tackle entered the NFL with modest expectations as a fifth-round pick out of LSU. However, he defied the odds, becoming a key culture leader who spent his entire career with the Bills, despite reaching the playoffs just once.
A six-time Pro Bowler, Williams was the heart and soul of Buffalo’s defense for years. Out of his 183 career games, he started 178 and recorded 48.5 sacks, including an impressive 10.5-sack season as an interior lineman.
Throughout his time with the Bills, he was part of formidable defensive line units, including a dominant group featuring Marcell Dareus, Jerry Hughes, and Mario Williams—three of whom posted double-digit sack seasons in a year where the defense totaled 57 sacks.
Williams played his lone playoff game as a Bill before finishing his career in 2018 alongside rookie quarterback Josh Allen. Following that season, he retired. Now, he’s making a return to where it all began.

Kyle Williams reportedly accepts defensive line coaching job at LSU
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Kyle Williams is set to join LSU as a defensive line coach, bringing his career full circle.
Though Williams was part of the Tigers’ roster from 2003-2005, he played only one full season. In his final year, he totaled 46 tackles (eight for a loss), three sacks, and five pass deflections, with his standout performance coming against Alabama, where he recorded seven tackles and two sacks.
It’s exciting to see Williams transition into college coaching, especially at his alma mater. If he excels in this role, he could climb the coaching ranks and potentially make his way to the NFL. With his leadership skills and the resilience he showed throughout his playing career, he embodies what it means to defy the odds.
