Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, Agree to L’Jarius Sneed Trade

L’Jarius Sneed joins his new team following another successful season with Kansas City. Sneed played the most of his first three seasons in the slot before moving outside for the majority of 2023. The move paid off, and the Chiefs concluded the season with one of the top defenses in sports. The cornerback started 16 games and finished the season with two interceptions, 78 tackles, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and 14 passes defended.

Why L'Jarius Sneed Trade Netted So Little Value For Chiefs

Sneed joins the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2020. The Kansas City Chiefs selected the Louisiana Tech product, who spent much of the season on the short-term injured list. When healthy, he was productive, with three interceptions, seven passes defensed, two sacks, 41 tackles, and two tackles for loss in nine games. The Chiefs advanced all the way to the Super Bowl before falling to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The cornerback improved on his promising debut season, earning a full-time starting job in 2021. L’Jarius Sneed started 15 games and finished the second year of his contract with two interceptions, eight passes defensed, one sack, 76 tackles, and seven tackles for loss. The Chiefs battled their way to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Sneed returned to the same job in 2022 and had another successful season. The cornerback started all 17 games and recorded three interceptions, 11 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, 3.5 sacks, 108 tackles, and five tackles for loss. Kansas City won their second Super Bowl under Patrick Mahomes, but only the first in Sneed’s career.

Since signing his rookie contract, L’Jarius Sneed has thrown 10 interceptions and broken up 40 passes.
