Josh Allen has spent his entire seven-year NFL career with the Buffalo Bills. He recently agreed to a six-year, $330 million contract extension, featuring a record-setting $250 million in guaranteed money, securing his place in Buffalo through the 2030-31 season. The 28-year-old quarterback earned this massive deal following his most impressive statistical season, in which he won his first NFL MVP award. In 2024, Allen passed for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns while throwing just six interceptions. He also contributed 531 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground, helping lead the Bills to their second AFC Championship appearance since 2020.

Since entering the league in 2018, Allen has been one of the most successful quarterbacks in terms of wins. Only Patrick Mahomes (89) has more regular-season victories than Allen (76) over that span. In a recent interview with NFL Films, Allen opened up about his unusual pregame ritual, which has become a staple of his routine with the Bills.

“I throw up before every game… It’s really weird,” Allen told Charissa Thompson. He explained that in college, he often dealt with mucus buildup. However, after vomiting before a preseason game against Detroit two years ago, he noticed the issue disappeared during play, leading him to adopt it as a regular habit. “So after every pregame warmup, I go inside, and my teammates will watch me and cheer me on,” Allen said. His teammates even encourage him, shouting, “Get it out, Josh. Get the demons out!” Some have even joined in, incorporating their own version of the ritual.

Since joining the NFL, Allen leads all players in wins (76), total touchdowns (262), and total yards (30,595) over their first seven seasons. While there’s no clear evidence that his pregame routine contributes directly to his success, it seems to put him in the right mindset for each game.
