
BREAKING: New York Mets are adding familiar face for organizational depth
The New York Mets are bringing back a familiar player for organizational depth.
According to reports, the team signed outfielder Billy McKinney to a minor-league contract on Thursday, and he will join their Triple-A affiliate.
McKinney, 30, has played for multiple teams throughout his career, including previous stints with both the Mets and Yankees.

He was acquired by the Mets from the Brewers in 2021, posting a .220/.304/.473 slash line with five home runs and 14 RBI over 39 games.

Most recently, McKinney played 48 games for the Yankees in 2023, hitting .226 with a .726 OPS and four home runs.
After the 2023 season, the Yankees traded him to the Pirates for cash considerations. In 2024, he appeared in 10 major league games for Pittsburgh, batting .200 with a .526 OPS in 25 at-bats.
