BREAKING: Former Right-hander returns to Baltimore Orioles, agrees to one-year, $5.25 million contract
Right-hander Kyle Gibson has rejoined the Baltimore Orioles after a one-year absence, signing a one-year, $5.25 million contract on Friday.
With Opening Day approaching, Gibson is expected to be part of a rotation that includes right-handers Zach Eflin, Charlie Morton, Dean Kremer, and Tomoyuki Sugano. Meanwhile, Grayson Rodriguez will begin the season on the injured list due to elbow inflammation.
The 37-year-old Gibson, who posted an 8-8 record with a 4.24 ERA across 30 starts for St. Louis last season, can earn up to $1.525 million in performance incentives. He will receive $150,000 for reaching 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24 starts, along with $125,000 for pitching 110, 120, 130, 140, and 150 innings.

Gibson previously pitched for the Orioles in 2023, going 15-9 with a 4.73 ERA in 33 starts under a one-year, $10 million deal. He then signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals that paid him $12 million, but St. Louis declined his $12 million option for 2025, opting for a $1 million buyout instead.

Over 12 MLB seasons, Gibson has compiled a 112-108 record with a 4.52 ERA in 324 starts and six relief appearances, playing for Minnesota (2013-19), Texas (2020-21), Philadelphia (2021-22), Baltimore, and St. Louis.
The Orioles’ rotation also took a hit with the departure of ace Corbin Burnes, who signed a six-year, $210 million deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
