BREAKING: LSU’s Kim Mulkey Dealt Major Transfer Portal News
Kim Mulkey is back in the transfer portal hunt—and she may be closing in on a key addition.
Per Matthew Brune of The Bengal Tiger, Amiya Joyner—a 6-foot-2 forward and three-year starter at East Carolina—took an official visit to LSU on Monday. With that visit now complete, a commitment decision may be on the horizon. LSU has been heavily pursuing Joyner since she entered the portal, and this trip could be the final step in securing her.
Joyner would provide a much-needed boost to LSU’s frontcourt, offering both depth and experience. While Mulkey’s squad returns a loaded backcourt—featuring Mikaylah Williams, Flau’Jae Johnson, Jada Richard, Kailyn Gilbert, and Mjracle Sheppard—the Tigers are thin in the post after significant offseason losses.

Joyner brings a proven inside presence. In 2024, she averaged 15.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, shooting 48.1% from the field. She also recorded 34 blocks, 36 steals, 52 assists, and 15 double-doubles over 32 games. Her standout season earned her First-Team All-AAC honors, including 23 games with double-digit scoring—eight of which were 20-point performances.
Across her ECU career, Joyner tallied 41 double-doubles and consistently led the program in both scoring and rebounding. Her steady production and basketball IQ make her an ideal fit for an LSU team looking to stay in championship contention.
Landing Joyner would mark another major portal win for Mulkey, further establishing LSU as a destination for elite talent. With a championship-caliber backcourt already in place, her addition could elevate the Tigers back into the national title picture for 2025.
