Jarin Stevenson, a 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward, has been a reliable presence for the Alabama Crimson Tide over the last two seasons.

As a freshman, he played a role in Alabama’s historic run to their first Final Four appearance, and in his sophomore year, helped them reach the Elite Eight.

After entering the NCAA transfer portal on April 3, Stevenson announced on April 13 that he would return to his home state to play for North Carolina.

A native of Chapel Hill, Stevenson wrapped up his time at Alabama with a heartfelt Instagram Story post, expressing gratitude to his teammates, coaches, staff, and fans:
“It’s been a ride. Thank you for all the love and support,” he wrote.

Coming out of Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina, Stevenson was a four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 11 power forward and No. 50 overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings.

During his freshman season in 2023-24, Stevenson appeared in all 37 games for Alabama, starting five and averaging 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. As a sophomore, his role expanded as he started 22 of 37 games, with improved averages of 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds.

Now returning to play for his hometown Tar Heels—where his mother once played and where he grew up rooting for UNC—Stevenson brings valuable tournament experience and a full-circle story to Chapel Hill, just a short drive from where it all began.
