The Buffalo Bills have made a habit of reuniting with former players in recent years, and another potential reunion may now be on the table.
On May 7, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced they had released wide receiver Gabe Davis, who had signed a three-year, \$39 million deal with them after departing Buffalo last offseason. Davis dealt with injuries during his lone season in Jacksonville and failed to replicate the success he had with quarterback Josh Allen, leading to his unexpected release.
With Davis now a free agent and the Bills facing some gaps at wide receiver, there’s growing speculation that he could return to Buffalo for the upcoming season.
Bills Could Boost Wide Receiving Corps With Gabe Davis
The Bills made major roster changes last year, moving on from top wideout Stefon Diggs and letting Gabe Davis walk in free agency. In response, the team adopted an “everybody eats” strategy, distributing targets more evenly among their receivers.
Now, with Davis back on the market, some believe a reunion could make sense. Syracuse.com’s Matt Parrino noted that Davis could be a smart addition — at the right price.
“Depends on the money, of course, but Mack Hollins’ role – the one originally held by Davis – is currently vacant,” Parrino wrote on X. “He’s a locker room guy who had his best success with Allen. When healthy, he’s shown to be a viable deep threat. All about the money though. Would he take \$3-5 million?”
While fans had mixed reactions, Parrino argued that bringing Davis back could add some healthy competition to the receiver room.
Davis is coming off an injury-shortened season in Jacksonville, where he posted just 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games before a torn meniscus landed him on injured reserve. That marked a steep decline from his production in Buffalo, where he thrived as the No. 2 option and delivered big performances in the playoffs — including four touchdowns in a 2021 divisional-round shootout against the Chiefs.

He may have other suitors, too. A possible reunion with former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll on the New York Giants could be in play, as Daboll has added several ex-Bills players since becoming head coach in New York.
Bills Making Other Moves in Wide Receiver Room
The Bills have already bolstered their receiving group with the addition of veteran Elijah Moore, who signed earlier this month. Moore has been a consistent contributor over four seasons with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns, posting at least 450 receiving yards each year.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Moore expressed enthusiasm about the new opportunity with a high-powered offense.
“This will be my third team, and just the stigma that kind of goes around,” Moore said, via the Democrat & Chronicle. “I know who I am, I know what I stand for. So when the opportunity with the Bills opened up, it just kind of sparked some … a lot of smiles, a lot of engagement, just to hear, like, how I would be viewed and fit in.”
