TCU men’s basketball has secured a commitment from Florida International transfer Vianney Salatchoum, who announced his decision on Instagram Wednesday. Last season with FIU, Salatchoum posted averages of 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game, starting 28 of 30 contests and recording three 20-point performances.
The 6-foot-11 Cameroonian big man, named to the Conference USA All-Defense team, began his collegiate career at Panola Community College in Texas. Salatchoum becomes TCU’s fifth portal addition, joining guards Brock Harding (Iowa), Jayden Pierre (Providence), Tanner Toolson (Utah Valley), and forward Liutauras Lelevicius (Oregon State).

He fills the void left by Ernest Udeh and adds depth to a frontcourt that returns David Punch and Malick Diallo, along with JUCO signee Xavier Edmonds.

Salatchoum and Diallo are expected to compete for the starting center role, with Punch projected at power forward. While Lelevicius can fill in at the four, this addition should allow him to primarily play on the wing.
