The exceptional performance of the Guardians this week is no jest, even on April Fool’s Day. As Opening Day fades into the past, let’s highlight three standout aspects from their impressive week on the field.

3-1 Start to the Season

“Indeed, our match against Oakland is just the beginning of the season, which may not carry significant weight. However, I must say I was thoroughly impressed by the performance of the Guardians team. I’m optimistic that this series will set a positive tone for the rest of the season. Led by Shane Bieber’s remarkable six-inning, 11-strikeout display on Thursday, the Guardians secured an impressive 8-0 victory against the A’s.

Friday’s game posed more challenge, ending with a 6-4 win for Cleveland, while Saturday witnessed another dominant display with a resounding 12-3 triumph. Although we missed out on a sweep, losing 4-3 on an Oakland walk-off, this setback didn’t overshadow the optimism. Three consecutive wins at the start of the season signal a promising start. It’s evident that the young talents are stepping up, and our new manager, Steven Vogt, appears adept at orchestrating the lineup. Anticipation runs high for what promises to be an exhilarating season ahead.”

Cookie Starts for Cleveland

Carlos Carrasco made a notable return to the mound for Cleveland on Sunday, marking his first appearance since September 25, 2020, wearing his iconic number 59 jersey. Following his trade to the Mets alongside Francisco Lindor on January 7, 2021, Carrasco spent three seasons in New York before rejoining Cleveland on a minor league contract this winter. After 15 years since his debut with Cleveland, he found himself back home.

Although his comeback performance wasn’t flawless, striking out three batters over five innings while conceding three runs on six hits, what truly mattered was his presence in a Cleveland jersey and his evident happiness and good health. Despite the changes in the team since his departure in 2020, the bond and affection remain intact. Here’s to Carrasco enjoying a healthy and successful season with Cleveland, whether as the fifth starter or in a bullpen role.

Kluber and Brantley to Return Home

Corey Kluber and Michael Brantley, revered figures in Cleveland baseball history, are set to make a nostalgic return to Progressive Field on April 8th for the team’s home opener. Kluber, known for his two Cy Young awards and three All-Star appearances with Cleveland, was traded to the Texas Rangers in 2019 before retiring in February. Brantley, a three-time All-Star during his tenure with Cleveland, joined the Houston Astros after becoming a free agent in 2018 and retired in January.

Having dedicated nine and ten years to the Cleveland franchise respectively, these two icons will grace the field once again in just one week to participate in the ceremonial first pitch festivities. The occasion promises to be an emotional yet heartwarming reunion for both players and the fans who hold them dear.
