BREAKING: Burnley boss Vincent Kompany responds to FA charge and addresses standard of refereeing

The Burnley manager has recently been critical of referees, particularly following Lorenz Assignon’s contentious red card against Chelsea last week, which is one of several incidents that have gone against Burnley this season.

Kompany himself was sent off for his reaction in the dugout and has subsequently received an FA charge for misconduct.

While he accepts the charge, Kompany stresses that his comments to footballing authorities are made with the broader interests of the game in mind.

He emphasizes that his concerns extend beyond Burnley’s situation, recognizing that improving officiating benefits football as a whole.

 

Kompany acknowledges the challenges posed by VAR and new rules but believes there is room for constructive dialogue and improvement.

Regarding his upcoming FA charge, Kompany indicates that his focus is currently on preparing for Burnley’s next game against Everton, rather than dwelling on disciplinary matters.

He intends to address the charge internally with the club once the immediate priority of the game has passed.
