Star pass rusher Josh Allen showed support for a message on his social media account that indirectly criticized the Jacksonville Jaguars’ front office. The message in question pertained to the Buffalo Bills trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a mild offseason

On paper, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans appear to be the top contenders for the AFC South crown in the coming years. However, the Texans have had a notably more successful offseason. They have strengthened their roster by acquiring key players like Danielle Hunter, Joe Mixon, and Stefon Diggs.

In contrast, the Jaguars’ offseason has been somewhat disappointing. They failed to re-sign Calvin Ridley, who opted to join another AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans. As a result, some argue that the Jaguars have taken a step back. Their most significant free agency acquisition was Arik Armstead, who is expected to bolster their defense and provide support for Josh Allen in the pass rush.

Josh Allen’s social media activity suggests that he shares the frustration expressed by Mr_Y_U_Mad regarding the Jacksonville Jaguars’ approach to team-building.

The tweet laments the Jaguars’ perceived reluctance to aggressively pursue opportunities to improve the team, contrasting it with the bold moves made by the Houston Texans in acquiring players like Stefon Diggs.

The tweet emphasizes the importance of being assertive in the pursuit of success, suggesting that being hesitant or conservative could hinder the team’s chances of achieving their goals.

The tweet also calls for action from the Jaguars’ management, urging them to address contract issues, re-sign key players like Josh Allen, and potentially make significant moves like reaching out to the San Francisco 49ers. Allen’s engagement with the tweet indicates his alignment with these sentiments and possibly his desire for the Jaguars to adopt a more aggressive approach to team-building.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ handling of Josh Allen’s contract situation, combined with their overall roster moves, may indeed be contributing to his frustrations with the team.

Despite Allen’s exceptional performance, including a remarkable 17.5 sack season, the Jaguars opted to apply the franchise tag to him rather than offering him a long-term, lucrative contract. This decision suggests a reluctance on the part of the team to commit significant financial resources to retaining Allen.

Furthermore, the Jaguars’ failure to retain Calvin Ridley, who was a key contributor in the 2023 season, could also be viewed as a concerning sign regarding their commitment to building a competitive roster around Allen.

While the Jaguars did sign former Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis in free agency, his addition may not be enough to address concerns about the team’s overall offensive depth and ability to provide sufficient support for Allen. Davis’s previous role as a secondary receiver in Buffalo’s offense may not excite Allen or instill confidence in the Jaguars’ efforts to bolster their receiving corps.

Whether the Jaguars can do enough to persuade Allen to stay beyond the 2024 season remains uncertain.

Their ability to address Allen’s contract situation, as well as their commitment to building a competitive roster and addressing his concerns, will likely play a significant role in his decision-making process. If the Jaguars fail to demonstrate a genuine commitment to Allen’s long-term success and the team’s competitiveness, he may explore other options once his contract expires.
