LSU’s second-ranked recruiting class has just received another boost with the addition of talented local player JT Lindsey. The LSU Football team has successfully secured the commitment of Louisiana native three-star running back JT Lindsey for the 2025 recruiting class. Lindsey accepted the offer on April 9th and made his commitment official during his visit for the Spring Game. In the On3 recruiting Rankings, Lindsey is ranked as the 11th-best running back in his class and the fifth-best recruit in Louisiana. This addition further strengthens LSU’s position, as they already boast the third-ranked recruiting class in the nation. Lindsey joins Harlem Berry, the top-ranked running back in the country and Louisiana’s top player, in the Tigers’ impressive roster of recruits.

“The culture, the coaches, the people. It is the best thing in the world, they have the best coaching staff in the country. Look at the stats and what they produce.”

Lindsey showcased his skills during his junior year of high school, amassing 1,729 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, demonstrating his versatility as a rusher, receiver, and returner. His arrival adds a dynamic playmaking ability to the LSU offense, complementing the already highly touted recruits in the class.

Coach Brian Kelly deserves recognition for his exceptional efforts in retaining in-state talent. With seven of the top ten recruits in Louisiana committing to LSU under Kelly’s leadership, it’s evident that he’s successfully solidifying the Tigers’ position within the state. Additionally, James Simon, the fourth-ranked recruit in Louisiana, appears to be leaning towards LSU, further highlighting Kelly’s effectiveness in recruiting top local talent.

LSU’s race for the Nation’s top recruiting class

As it stands, LSU’s second-ranked recruiting class is currently trailing only behind Ohio State in a closely contested battle for the top spot. However, with National Signing Day approaching, LSU remains in prime position to overtake Ohio State, particularly with highly touted recruits like James Simon, Micah DeBose, Walter Mathis, and Dilan Battle trending towards committing to LSU.

Although the current recruiting class features only three defensive recruits, it’s expected that this balance will shift as LSU continues its pursuit of securing the top class in the country. Given the recent struggles of the defense despite a potent offense, there’s a clear emphasis on Coach Kelly to bolster the defensive ranks with top-tier SEC talent. This strategic focus aims to address past shortcomings and ensure a more well-rounded and competitive team moving forward.
