Former UNC football standout Omarion Hampton has officially signed his first NFL contract, marking the start of his professional career.
After being chosen 22nd overall by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hampton agreed to a four-year deal worth \$17.77 million, which includes a \$9.56 million signing bonus. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to share the contract details.
Hampton appears to be a strong match for the Chargers, especially given head coach Jim Harbaugh’s commitment to a run-heavy offense. Known for his power, size, and athleticism, Hampton is well-suited to handle duties as a three-down back.
Fortunately, the contract negotiation process was swift and straightforward. While many terms are predetermined based on the league’s collective bargaining agreement and draft position, some rookies experience delays in reaching agreements. That wasn’t the case for Hampton, allowing him to now shift his full focus to preparing for his upcoming rookie season.
