The Connecticut Huskies have been a powerhouse in college basketball over the last three seasons. After winning consecutive national titles under head coach Dan Hurley in 2023 and 2024, their championship streak ended in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, where they were knocked out in the Round of 32 following a tough game against the Florida Gators.
With the spring transfer portal now closed, UConn has made several important roster changes to strengthen their core group of returning players. Hurley successfully kept key contributors such as Solo Ball, Alex Karaban, Tarris Reed Jr., and Jaylin Stewart. Additionally, the Huskies made impactful additions through the transfer portal, most notably guard Silas Demary Jr., who had been exploring the NBA Draft.

On Monday, it was confirmed that Demary officially withdrew from the NBA Draft and will play for UConn this upcoming season—a major boost for Hurley’s squad in Storrs. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein first reported the news, with Demary’s father confirming the decision. Demary spent the last two seasons at Georgia and played a key role in the Bulldogs’ NCAA Tournament appearance last year.
Last season, Demary averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, shooting 37.4% from three-point range. He is expected to complement UConn’s returning guards well in the backcourt.
Hurley also added Dayton transfer Malachi Smith, further enhancing a roster that now blends seasoned players with fresh talent.
With a strong group of returning players, impactful transfers, and a highly regarded freshman class—including Jacob Furphy, Braylon Mullins, and Eric Reibe—the Huskies look well-positioned to stay competitive. According to the official UConn roster, the team currently includes 11 players: four seniors, four juniors, and three freshmen, with Demary Jr. among them.
