The Detroit Tigers will have at least three players in the starting lineup when the All-Star Game takes place on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
With one of the best records in baseball this season, it’s no surprise Detroit is well represented among the American League starters. MLB revealed the All-Star starters on Wednesday, and three Tigers made the cut: second baseman Gleyber Torres and outfielders Riley Greene and Javier Báez.
Torres edged out Baltimore’s Jackson Holliday in the final round of voting, while Greene and Báez secured more votes than stars like Mike Trout of the Angels and Steven Kwan of the Guardians. Only two AL outfield spots were up for grabs after Yankees slugger Aaron Judge locked up a starting role by leading in votes during the first phase.
The Tigers boast more All-Star starters than any other AL team—fitting for a club that holds the league’s best record at the season’s halfway point.

Torres, a free agent addition this year, has reignited his offense and returns to the All-Star stage for the first time since 2019, when he was a reserve for the Yankees.
Greene is back at the Midsummer Classic for a second consecutive year but will start this time after making the roster as a reserve last season.

Báez, meanwhile, is having a bounce-back year after two down seasons in Detroit. Impressively, he’s earned his starting nod at a position he hasn’t played before in an All-Star Game. He was the National League starter at second base in 2018 and shortstop in 2019 with the Cubs—now he adds a third different starting spot to his résumé.
The rest of the AL’s starting lineup includes Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh, Toronto first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Oakland shortstop Jacob Wilson, Cleveland third baseman José RamÃrez, and Baltimore designated hitter Ryan O’Hearn.
Pitchers and reserves will be announced on Sunday. Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, the reigning AL Cy Young winner, is expected to make the roster and could be a candidate to start the game.
